In light of a fatal car accident involving Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim, ESPN has decided not to broadcast “College GameDay” from the Carrier Dome on Saturday as originally scheduled.
Instead of broadcasting live from the Carrier Dome, ESPN officials decided to have “GameDay” originate from the network’s Bristol, Connecticut, studios “due to the celebratory nature of the show,” ESPN spokesperson Anna Negron told Syracuse.com.
The clash between the top-ranked Blue Devils (23-3 overall, 11-2 in ACC) and the Orange (18-8, 9-4) had already lost a bit of its luster when Duke was blown out by No. 9 North Carolina and in the process lost star forward Zion Williamson to a knee injury when his shoe exploded.
Williamson has been diagnosed with a mild sprain and is officially day-to-day, according to an announcement from the school Thursday.
