SportsPulse: Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins faced the media at the Combine and weren’t shy about how they’d view themselves on different teams.
Tyree Jackson was never at risk of being overlooked at the NFL scouting combine.
At 6-7 and 249 pounds, the Buffalo quarterback is the biggest passer in Indianapolis. But despite his size, Jackson posted the second-best 40-yard dash time at his position Saturday by clocking in at 4.59 seconds officially. Only Penn State’s Trace McSorley topped his time with a 4.57-second mark.
Jackson also had the top vertical jump among quarterbacks at 34 1/2 inches and tied with Duke’s Daniel Jones for the longest broad jump at 10-0.
For Jackson, who also participated in the Senior Bowl, the performance is a chance to convince teams that he’s worth the investment as a developmental prospect. He threw for 3,131 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2018 but completed just 55.3 percent of his passes.
“Right now, I’m just focused on the day-to-day process,” Jackson told reporters on Friday. “If you look down to the draft right now, you’re going to miss what’s in front of you. Right now I have a great opportunity to go out there and showcase my abilities on a national stage at the combine, so that’s all I’m looking forward to right now.”
