Vans shoes appear to have cat-like reflexes, according to the latest viral theory that has people throwing their shoes to see if they land right side up.
When Twitter user @Ibelievthehype shared a video on Twitter saying “Did you know it doesn’t matter how you throw your Vans they will land facing up,” a challenge was born. He showed a pair of Vans sneakers flipping into the air, and then landing sole-side down.
People became curious. Then, they pulled out their shoes and started chucking them across floors, sharing their own shock in videos using the hashtag #VansChallenge.
Many people also had the same results, and some dubbed the phenomena as “wizardry” and generally, a cool feature of the shoes.
Some users even took the challenge to new heights, tossing them from a second floor. Sure enough, the shoes landed right side up.
While most videos using #VansChallenge show the phenomenon, some users showed this didn’t work for all Vans shoes — at least when they tossed them.
Off-brand styles also didn’t seem to have the same effect.
Vans didn’t immediately reply to a USA TODAY request for comment about whether or not their “off the wall” shoes are meant to land upright.
