It was a rough Sunday outing in Los Angeles for the Portland Timbers.
The team fell behind LAFC 4-1 after 68 minutes en route to a defeat that left the defending Western Conference champions still looking for their first victory on the young MLS season.
But things took a bizarre turn in the 72nd minute when Diego Chara was sent off for … flicking an opponent’s ear?
Indeed, Chara’s ear-flick on LAFC’s Diego Rossi drew a yellow card, his second of the game, which resulted in a red card that disqualified him from the contest.
Rossi, for his part, did his best to draw the ref’s attention to the infraction by executing one of the most dramatic flops you will ever see.
Never a dull moment in the beautiful game.
