MILWAUKEE – A $1 million cash bail was set Sunday for Dariaz L. Higgins in the fatal shooting of Sierra M. Robinson, according to online circuit court records.
Higgins is the father of 2-year-old Noelani Robinson, who was believed to be found dead in Minnesota over the weekend. Robinson is Noelani’s mother.
Higgins was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon and first-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon. Both charges are felonies. A no-contact provision order also was issued.
Higgins, 34, is accused of killing Robinson, 24, and wounding another woman shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, according to a criminal complaint and Milwaukee police.
At a news conference Saturday, Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales said that the body of a child believed to be Noelani was found wrapped in a blanket on a roadside outside of Blooming Prairie in rural Steele County, Minnesota, around 7 p.m. Friday.
A medical examiner there determined Saturday that the preliminary cause and manner of death was homicide due to blunt force trauma to the head.
Higgins was believed to have stayed at a hotel in the area at one point during the past week, police said.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for March 25.
